I use whatever oil the engine maker calls for. Most additives are sold on the basis of a guy thinking he is doing something extra for his engine. The actual benefits are probably impossible to prove. If it costs extra its not for me.I do my first oil change on any vehicle I bought new[not many]at the first fifty miles to get any metal the filter didnt get out of the engine. That has worked well for me.There is even a can of stuff that says it rebuilds your engine just by pouring it into the crankcase. If that worked it would be a miracle.Or how about the old Duralube infomercial where they pour a waterhose on the rocker arms.Early engines had no rocker arm covers so thats not real impressive to me.Now if the manufacturer tells you a certain additive is needed for something like sticking valve guides then I would use it because they are trying to correct a problem in a band aid non recall way.The only thing thats going to fix a worn out motor is wrenches and man hours of labor.
