My personal opinion is that 12 hp is not enough to run anything but a lawn mower. People with acreage usually end up using a tractor for more than they thought they would when they bought it. I wouldn't have anything less that 20-25 hp. Having said that, opinions are like belly buttons;everybody's got one!
