Fuel Problems

I have a JD F953 mower that is having fuel problems. It runs fine on the right tank, but when I switch to the left tank it will run for a few minutes then sputter and die (the fuel tank is full!). I then bleed the system and it starts and runs fine for a few minutes, then dies again if left on the left tank. I replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump before I figured out it was "tank" related. What would you recommend? Fuel line plugged? Bad fuel?
