Forgot which year they changed the Continental from the 3.8 to the 4.6. Run from that car as fast as you can. The 3.8 is notorious for blowing head gaskets, the transmission is a POS, the electronics will cost a mint just to keep the car on the road and suspension (FRONT and REAR) is in a word junk. For some reason everything that could go wrong did on that body style of Lincoln. IMHO a Taurus or a Sable with the 3.0 engine of that vintage is a lot better car, they have a simpler electronics system and the rear suspension is a basic strut design. You still run into the transmission problem (two transmissions went into those cars one is a lot better then the other) but other then that they are good for 150K to 200K and they basically give them away at your nearest used car dealer.
