When the belt comes off again, take a straight edge and check each pulley to make sure it runs true. The pump you are talking about is most likely the vacuum pump, the bearings in it may have failed causing it to have enough slop to turn out of line with the other pulleys, making that belt come off after a while. If it is turning funny like you said, you probably will have to replace it. I don't recall how complex one of those is, you most likely can change it yourself if you are skilled enough to put new belts on and have a few tools.
