I grew up on a farm in northwest Oregon where we raised chickens for eggs. My Father & his cousin raised prunes & cherries before I was born. They were never satisfied with "store-bought" machinery so they made what they needed. Allis Chalmers WC/WD45 engines with M&W kits, "Jimmy" diesels & flathead Ford engines figured prominently in their projects. Also, front transverse springs from mid '40s Ford trucks. I was the 4th generation to be on the farm, but the preceding 3 generations never made any money, so I saw no need to continue that tradition.
