I don't think changing shims, or a stuck valve, will have any thing to do with the Oring blowing. The fitting, that the Oring is on, is going to see the pressure, that the pump is set at all the time. I guess you have the new style fitting, with the swivel?

How much vibration does the pressure line have in it, and are all the clamps, inside the frame rail, and the junction block bolted tight? A slow high pressure internal leak can cause the line to vibrate, and hammer on the pressure control valve. Also, an improperly set crankcase outlet valve, in the main pump, will cause the pump to hammer.

I think about the only thing to cause the oil light to come on, related to the pressure control valve, would be the inner Oring, on the sleeve, that the valve is in, is blown causing an internal high pressure leak.

Bad news is, most all the time the leak is caused by a hair line crack in the housing, from the threads out. If that is the problem, good luck finding one.
