What locknut are you trying to adjust? There is the big tapered screw that goes down into the pedestal and the turnbuckle with a jam nut on either end that goes to the control valve attached to the front piston. You probably need to adjust the turnbuckle that goes to the valve. Make sure there is no play in the pins at the ends of that turnbuckle. Make small adjustments and recheck steering. Big Dean on the Massey Board sells a CD that has a picture and description of this adjustment.
