Well if you've got your tools out and are looking for loose bolts, you might reach for the timing light. I'm assuming your engine timing is checked like our gas MH50, wherein a plug gets pulled out of the clutch housing area and the timing light gets shined in to check the marks. If you have an owners manual it'll tell you all about it. Should be about 6 degrees initial and about 10 or 15 advance. When we first got ours, the centrifugal advance springs were gone and the timing was pretty sloppy to say the least. But starting never was a problem. When those things are working and set right, and the main mixture needle is set right on the carburetor, she'll run and idle really smoothly.
