On the bright side of that subject, I bought a foreclosed property from Chase Manhattan Bank several years ago. When I went to the county treasurer's office to pay the property taxes, lady said they had already been paid. This went on for 3 years! I figured I'd just let it go on till they caught on, then when they demanded reimbursement, I would pay the principal but not interest, and listen to them howl. They finally quit paying last year, and so far, not a peep about the amount they paid after I purchased the place (over $4,000). On the subject of customer service in banks, Wells Fargo is one of the worst- I got out of there after they bought our local bank. I am pleased to recommend West Coast Bank, for those of you in western Washington or western Oregon. Since I'm over 55, I never pay a fee of any kind. If someone comes in with one of my checks to cash, they call me if there's any question. They keep track of 4 accounts perfectly, and have a "customer appreciation" barbecue every spring, with the CEO of the bank doing the cooking. Not much not to like about that outfit.
