The bank that I opened an account with over thirty years ago was owned by I think, Northwestern Bank which changed its name to Norwest which later bought Wells Fargo Bank, put the two together and started using that catchy name and logo. Because I do almost everything by phone, on line or at the ATMs, until about a month ago I would not have been able to name one employee at Wells that I had dealt with personally. There have been good reports about their online advances. Off hand, I do not know of any reasonable way they might improve the online thing. IngDirect.com and EmigrantDirect.com are on line folks, that pay better rates on savings accounts and provide good service. Wells can get a little pushy with their gotcha fees at times but with a phone call, often they will rescind them on the first offense. Were it not for all the fees, the seven and eight figure executives might have trouble justifying their compensation. Looking at the other side, Warren Buffett at Berkshire Hathaway must think that the stockholders are treated okay or they would not be owners.
