Gasoline begins boiling around 25 degrees F. Therefore it will evaporate. Butane in gasoline creates most of the vapor pressure and it evaporates at 33 degrees F. All gasolines aren't the same , but if you have a tank exposed to sun and it is vented, you could lose 10% if the temperature gets up into the 90 degree range.
You can install a presure relief valve in teh vent and add a sealing fill cap. This would cut loss somewhat.
