Which way does a distributor spin?

Ok...I'm not sure if I can still call myself a young buck at 35... But I certainly wasn't raised working with carbs & distributors :) I had a stupid moment, and when I replaced the cap & rotor on my TO-35, I **thought** I memorized where the wires went. Yes, I **knew** better and **knew** to write them down, even though I didn't... I know the firing order should be 1,3,4,2 (per several references). I did that clockwise around the cap...I guess I just fundamentally assumed the rotor spins to the right (clockwise). Runs like crap, for short periods, backfires and dies. I found this good diagram:
http://www.fergusonenthusiasts.com/wiring/T0MF35_F40_MHMF_50_MF_65_12V.pdf If I'm reading it right, it's telling me the rotor goes counter-clockwise to achieve the 1,3,4,2 order... So am I correct in switching the wires around to follow the pattern on the diagram?
