probably cables, ground or relay, in that order. The cables should be real 6V cables, not discount auto parts store car cables, there is a big difference in how the right size cable passes current for the starter. The battery charger probably doesn't have the nuts to spin the starter, unless it has a booster but you can test it with a battery
