I'm not a master mechanic but I think if you had a hole in a sleeve you would experence loss of compression, and would run like crap. Try a compression test. Then if everything comes up even pull the head and look at the sleeves, if your head gasket looks good you can use spray-on Copper Seal and it will help seal it again(cheaper than a new gasket). Might check the torque on the head bolts before you pull it off. But be sure of the problem before you buy an expensive sleeve.
