If it was me, I wouldn't be making the change, especially in your case if you don't know how to set the points. A mag is a trouble free spark system. Wait till you have to mess with the points rotor, and condenser. I guess each to his own. But if it was mine and nothing wrong with the mag, I would leave it alone.
