The 706 has a "starting bypass" around the resistor, right? So it would be as JohnT says... the resistor will be roughly the same resistance as the coil primary, and NOT a PTC (positive temperature coefficient) resistor). Likely, a new one WILL look a LOT different than the on that came on the tractor when it was new. What problem are you having, specifically, hard starting, or burning points?
