Like the other gents told ya, fer sure they make different shapes n sizes and ohms and power ratings of Ballast Resistors as some applications required a variety of sizes, but that being said, the typical ignition ballast resistors for use on old 12 volt tractors that used 6 volt coils would be in the 1.5 to 1.85 ohms range rated around 30 watts and be the style of a wire wound resistor in a white ceramic "bathtub" enclosure. To serve as a 50/50 voltage divider so they drop half the battery voltage leaving 6 to 7 across the coil, they would have the same ohms as the coils primary winding.
