They have used ally heads on all sorts of things for many years without problem - motor cycles for instance. Gaskets usually fail due to overheating, detonation or other reason, although sometimes through plain old age - corrosion of fire rings etc. My main comment is if it has an overhead cam. If it has you are a little limited in skimming to straighten, if warped, as cam bearing will no longer be in line. RAB
