If the other suggestions don't work, you need to advise what you mean by it doesn't start. If absolutely nothing happens, it's probably a power supply or motherboard problem. The excess heat has popped a connection loose or killed a mobo component or the battery. If the system does a POST (tries to boot up, hard drive light comes on, but never actually gets you to Windows), I would lean toward a loose or failed memory chip (VAIO's are known to have memory chip related problems) or a dead hard drive. If the tinkering with the battery, the power on button, or reseating the memory chip(s) doesn't work, unless you're real handy working on these things, the cost of repairs would likely not be worth the effort.
