Toy tractor

My friend operates one of the three garages here in the county, and is a collector/restorer of old tractors as well. Today when I dropped by just to yarn a bit he showed me his latest old tractor: BMC Tractor Jr. This pedal-powered trike had no other information. Does anyone out there recognize the name, and know anything about this toy? I would guess it is not newer than the 1950s, possibly the 40s. Any leads appreciated.
