Saw one light in the bedroom get brighter, and the plugged in bedside light get dimmer. Emergency!! run to the basement with volt meter check both sides of the 220 single phase. Not the same, 96 vac on one leg, 134+ on the other. Pulled the 200 amp breaker. Called the power company (went through about 6 levels of button pushing to get to a person.
Third person listened and sent trucks in mass.
200 people on the distribution leg were affected. Thermal imaging found a red hot neutral clamp on 2600 volt line. They shut off the power for 15 minutes and replaced the clamp. Then came and thanked me in person for saving their collective orifice.
