A small quantity of oil, even used motor oil, will eventually be decomposed by naturally occurring bacteria, if it's in a place that it doesn't wash to surface water or sink to ground water in the decade or two that takes to happen.
To return it to where it came from, I don't think the more rational greenies (me, for instance) would object if you shipped it back to one of our crude suppliers and had it injected a few thousand feet underground.
