An 8N is the simplest thing you could even split, and install a clutch in.

However, good blocks, jacks and/or a hoist are required to do it safely.

What's wrong with the clutch? Often, they will rust and stick, so they do not DISENGAGE. Often, they can be made to release without a teardown.

If the clutch is only STUCK, and not burned out, so it doesn't try to move the tractor when in gear, post back, or just go over to the "N" board, and search the archives for "stuck clutch" for tips on breaking it loose.

Oh, yeah, and are you SURE it's an 8N. rather than a 9N or a 2N?

For one thing, ALL 8N's have a 4-speed tranny, and BOTH of the other 2 "look-alike" models have only a 3-speed tranny.
