Currently I am working with the USDA,Natural Resources Conservation Service on a (WHIP) wildlife habitat improvement project that involves about 50% cost-sharing on building a pond (one acre+ water surface),interceding native grasses, fencing paddocks for rotational grazing and installing water lines and tanks for cattle. There have been a lot of hoops that I have had to jump through already, to gain their approval and construction has barely started. We have until 2010 to complete this. From what I have seen so far there are some things that I would rather do my way but I am willing to be flexible, play by their rules, to get the engineering and financial help from them. This I see as a long term project that may improve the value of the property beyond the price of money spent and it is earth friendly. I like the phrase; “It is all Holy Water.
