If the new needle is a rubber tipped type, open it back up. Pull the float back off and then drop the needle in the seat after makeing sure the seat is good and tight, if the seat is loose it will cause your problem also. With the needle in the seat use a small hammer or end of a punch etc and tap on the needle a ouple times. What that does is sets the tip of the needle in to the seat. Got that from an old carb guy that is long since gone.
