If you have a local shop that repairs radiators and gas tanks, they will have some stuff that works great.. it is purple and dries hard, sealing the inside of the tank beautifully. It takes about a qt to do a tank... you pour the whole thing in after you have thoroughly cleaned and dried the tank out... Roll the tank around, and use a penlight and a small mirror to make sure you got everywhere...baffles can make it tough to be sure, but it will seal it up...fixes pinholes and keeps the rust from getting worse... I usually put about a quart of gravel in the tank and strap it to a rear tractor wheel when I'm mowing..... it knocks out all of the loose stuff.... then I rinse it out well, dry it w/ a hair dryer, and add the sealant...
