MF Hydraulic Pump Rebuild Questions

I am about to attempt a rebuild on the pump in my Massey 65. Does anyone have any tips on exactly what needs to be done to make life easier? My current plan is to use the Sparex kit (w/preassembled chambers) and do a basic remove and replace. I did get the control valve as well. Plans include painting all parts with a light coat of synthetic grease prior to reassembly. Do I need to disassemble the preassembled components for any reason? Looks like the pump piston "square" failed shortly after the last rebuild. Not sure. Perhaps they were installed upside down? Backwards? The guy that sold it to me just made sure that I knew it had problems. Then he handed me the standpipe....
