Tires and Wood

I was carefully digging pieces of wood out of the bead of the tractor tires yesterday, must be I was too close to some of the smaller trees while in the woods, seems like the rim peels some wood off and it wedges between the bead of the tire and the rim. One had been in there for a few months, I must not have seen it. I pryed the bead back and dug it out. The wood seemed to be breaking down from all the rubbing, but I think I got all the pieces out, by carefully prying the bead andusing a thin screwdriver to pry them out. what I was wondering is if these were left in would they work in further and eventually wear a hole into the tube ?
