I would suggest you get the kit, pricey but having the correct wiring harness and instructions make life sooo much simpler. On the 3020 you may [depending on the starter] have to replace the twin filters with a JD box filter to accomadate the extra starter length. Can get a bit pricey but worth every penney in my opinion.
