4in pvc schedule 80 with 1/2in holes about every 4 in. It is plenty strong and easy to work with. Cut it in the middle and put your tee there and reduce it down to a 2in quick coupler to run to the pump. If its not the amount of water you want drill more holes. Also angle the holes up just a little, seems to do a better job of spreading that way. Ive used one like this for 11 years now and havebt had to do anything to it
