Depending on your state laws, your trailer may, or may not be titled. Your secretary of state (DMV) should have trailer on record by license plate number even if it is expired. If titled, your auctioneer should have supplied you with that document, obviously not in this case... I have been able to license and title vehicles without prior title, using a bill of sale. However, that is not the problem: Check with DMV, and see if they can give you the information, or better yet, if you know anyone in law enforcement, have them run the plate on the sly!
