The grease gun option is OK as long as the crankshaft is removed from the engine first, or you are certain there are no other pistons stuck. If it isn't and the piston is at top dead center you have a good chance of damaging something. Some grease guns can develop enough pressure to bend connecting rods, crack heads, twist cranks, etc, so you wanna be careful with the grease gun trick.
