A heat lamp on the side of the block???
When I used to re-sleave (in the winter in a cold shop) I would let a heat lamp shine into the empty hole, then insert the new sleeves.
Warning: heat lamps are dangerous to start fires. Oily stuff can be OK for hours and then start to burn.
