A friend at work just redone the head on his 1989 s-10 because the head gasket blew. Now it is all back together and he took it for a test drive (3 miles ) put it back in the shop raised the hood to check for leaks and the exhaust manifold was glowing red where number 2&3 come together. I tod him that his catalytic converter was probably plugged so he had a pipe made to replace it, took it out for another drive ( 3 miles ) and the same thing. He said the plugs look clean and no smoke out the pipe, claims the timing is ok, I am not sure where to tell him to look, Anyone have any ideas? Thanks William
