I"ve seen Volkswagon pickups built as you descripe. They were imported and sold by VW dealers in this country. Bed was higher too because of the rear engine. Don"t see many of them any more, they were popular in the 50"s and 60"s. I think the only survivors have been in storage someplace, or are restored. When we moved from apartment to our house, I borrowed one from work. For moving, with the drop sides that was the handiest thing I ever used. Delbert from Lincoln.
