I built one for my 79 ford just like you described not to hard to build with right equipment. I use it for my fencing truck and every thing is easy to reach off of the sides or back my sides are only about 8" high so I don't fold the sides down as often as I thought I would. Bout the only time I do is for over sided items I want to haul. I like it real well.
