I had a '56 CA and it was a fine little tractor. Hindsight being 20-20, I wish i had kept it. It ran so well, easy on gas and did whatever I asked it and more. I hated the brakes...couldn't keep good ones and it needed several little things that now, I would gladly do...but 15 years ago, I wasn't interested in doing. I had the original 2-14" snap coupler plows and it pulled them very easily, I was actually quite impressed with it and boy, did they do a sweet job too. The CA also had the original 7' pick up disc and it was no problem behind it either. I later picked up a '59 JD 430 and it was such a disappointment compared to the little Allis...not even in the same league. Not a bash on Deeres, my next tractor was a Deere and so is the new one under the shed. Allis had something with the CA, plain and simple. What would I have changed? Things many will say unecassary...but I would have had wet brakes, more gears and power steering...a diesel engine would have been a plus, but the gas engine ran very well....always started with the 6 volt system too.
