Give him a get well for me, and I hope they gave him something good for that throbbing pain, I know it ain't easy, especially at first.

Way too many accidents to think of, some had permanent results, had a few of my own, used to ride a lot myself, but know how unproteced you are on a bike, especially on the road, always the other guy you need to watch.

In '03 I broke several ribs foolin around in my yard, dumb me decided to take a rip over a nice pile of dirt, about 8'-0" high, forgot that I had been practicing archery and my soft square target was on the other side, was using the pile as a backstop, had been over this pile many times before, nice and easy, not this time, that target hung me up, feet were too far off the ground, went over on one side from 6'-0" high and drove my elbow right into the ribs, while my best friend was watching, it was his PE 250, he heard something crack and thought for sure I broke my arm, I never heard anything, was laying on the ground writhing and out of air, boy that hurt, and it took some time to heal up, we all grew up with them as kids, he decided to get one to fool with, once a kid always a kid. He was laughing at first, then realized I was down for the count, took 15 minutes to stand up, seemed like forever.

I'll mention this one, I would not wish this on anyones kids. Was a senior in H.S., 2 months to go, was driving my boat, a '73 impala 2 dr., few friends in the car, making the rounds to drop everyone off, 10:30 p.m. thursday night, went to take a left off a straight road to one that came in at an angle, was doing 3 M.P.H., friend riding shotgun says "Look Out" then BAM !!!!....... two bodies fly over the hood, lucky they did not crash through the windshield, one hit a telephone pole in mid air, the other landed 50 feet past my car. They were on a Yamaha TT 250, wound out in 6th gear, well over 50 M.P.H. when they hit, both broke their legs on my bumper, and one lost a few toes, he was a terrible mess when I saw him on the ground. No helmet, no lights, no registration, speeding, no reflectors, no license, no insurance, no nothing actually ! I graduated with a 3.5 million dollar lawsuit to fend off, and 2 families who wanted a piece of my hide for what happened, in court they concocted it was intentional, hell, I could have took off, it was dark, no one knew antyhing, but I did the right thing. I made it clear if any of them came by the house they'd be full of lead, was damn serious about it at that young crazy age, having to watch over my shoulder after the incident, even after the legal battle. Still to this day I cannot figure out how they came up with that flim flam set up, here I am thinkin my wages are to be garnished for life, now criminal charges for something I did not do, and I don't even have a job yet, have not even graduated, great way to start life! Years later the driver, wanted to fight in the local grocery store, then a few years later he apologized, admitted he was wrong, we had a drink together and that was that. They still got some settlement, fair amount of money, they were both hospitalized for a month, not sure what insurance co. paid, but they were both busted up bad, they learned a terrible lesson at 13 & 14 and by right are fortunate to be alive.

Can't shelter kids, does them no good, but you can't let them do what these kids did, parents were to blame here, no reason for it at all. Oh well been a roll lately, better give the key board a rest don't want to wear out the welcome. finally back to work tomorrow.

PS - hope your boy feels better tomorrow, sorry to hear that news, hits home when you hear things like that, hope he reads the thread and has a laugh or 2 about the first paragraph, it happens to the best of us, it's funny now, but not at the time!
