F10 Loaders Allen ?

Here in eastern IA we don,t use this tpye of loader and only place I have seen them is in pictures or along the roads out west. What is the reason for the big wide frame that extends past the rear of tractor other than trying to transfer wieght to the rear? I can't see how this can help. But there has to be a reason or knowone would want one. They just look clumsey and awkward to me. Just wondering.
