Hi Jay, yes you are right about group III's being touted as synthetic. They do a great job in many applications versus an old formulation of some group I product, but when it gets down to nut crackin time, a PAO oil, (poly-alpha-olefin) that is derived from converting natural gas to a liquid, or methane gas, such as perhaps Mobils SHC series, those PAO's are going to outlast, and outperform the Group III's. I have had some experiences not to my liking with Chevrons Hiper-Syn oils, they are not PAO's.
