Check out what the inscription says, and what the speech says. Yes, the words "so help us God" were left off the inscription. So was about 90% of the rest of the speech. The speech did not end with those words.

The inscription and the rest of the speech are available at the following link. There is even a link on that site to a photo of the inscription. We can debate about whether the words should have been included, but much of the letter that's circulationg via e-mail isn't exactly on target.
