I don�t know the MF line well enough to know that the 2705 would have disk brakes similar to the 65 that I bought that had pedals that felt like good did not stop the tractor. This caused me to have the same questions about Massy brakes that you have. The seller over simplified the problem but I�m not sure he really understood it. The problem was evidently the tractor had set unused for an extended period. The brake discs (4 of them, which rotate with the drive axels) had been in contact for so long with the stationary plates, that some of the non metal disc material transferred to the stationary stopping plates. This material stuck to and left an imprint of the disc on the plates. When the unit was back in use the imprinted material created a glaze on the plate. Because of this the disc did not create friction when forced against the plate. I replaced the discs (which were worn little) a couple seals and four paper gaskets. Job took me longer than it should have but manual saved my bacon.
