There is nothing illegal about that. Last time I checked this was still a free country. I do not feel sorry for anyone stupid enough to bid way more than something is worth. If you are planning on buying something, better research what its worth BEFORE bidding.
If its going for too much.... then STOP BIDDING! If you don't know what its worth then DON'T BID!
