Get a full can of starter fluid. Have someone start the motor as you continually give it small squirts of starter fluid. If it runs fine as long as you continue giving it ether and then dies as soon as you stop then you definitely have a fuel delivery problem. Check one of the repair manuals from a parts store. My 93 Ford Bronco with 5.0L (302ci) had an electronic fuel pump inside the fuel tank. After trying everything under the blazing sun to find the problem the starter fluid shows it wasn't getting gas. Changed the pump problem solved.
