Gotta have spark and gas. Got spark when you first try to start it? If so, got gas at the carbutetor drain? That's someplace to start, anyway. Note that the starting linkage shuts off both the magneto and the fuel feed to the carb when in diesel mode, so your problem may be switchover linkage-related.
