dear sirs, i am in search of some honest answers.
i hope you will bear with me. It's 5:00 am in Wisconsin. I've been on hundreds of tractor sites all night.20 years ago my father-in-law was gonna sell this rusty old jd h just because he didn't use it anymore. i said "dad could i buy it. he was asking $500 for it . I told him it might only be a dollar aweek but seeing as how i was the only woman ever to sit it i was attached to it. Well he up and gave it to me.course we had to haul it from Maine to Wis.
it had some home made semi wheels on the back but i didn't care. over the years my husband has restored it pretty much back to original. i sold my ford truck just so i could get new rims for the back. now i have all matching rims front and back-all new rubber it runs great. I've taken three parade awards with it and also taken it to the grandkids school/stuff like that. Well for the last five years dads health has really failed
he's had one leg took off. then just the day after thanksgiving mom had a heart attack. she's at home though. well the thing is they can't handle the wood stove no more so we want to get a furnace put in asap. getting back to the H i want to sell it to get the furnace money. it's a 1940 that was bought in late 1939 about four years ago a john deere guy said i could easily get $2500 for it but that was before the new rubber and the cast rims (front) i would like to ask $3000 for it . the thing is I don't want someone to cheat me just because i'm a woman. but i want to be fair about it too. a guy from arkansas i talk to last night said i should be able to get the $3000 for it. the furnace is like $1700 but then it has to be installed and i would like to put a little in the bank so we could take a trip out there to help. I can't seem to get anybody local to give me an honest answer even though they have seen the tractor running and working. It will need a new paint touch up because we have used it to bring in wood. but it's not bad. my husband says it would look better with new grill panels cause mine have a couple of dents in them other than that it's a pretty little tractor I can try to send a picture but i'm not real good on this computer. It's getting hard for me to us e the H anyway because i can't turn the flywheel anymore by myself so it would of better use to us as a way to purchase the furnace. do you have the time to send me your honest opinion. i would be grateful.

Today's Featured Article - Third Brush Generators - by Chris Pratt. While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity". After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents. A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point ... [Read Article]
