First, what are you planning on doing with this truck? Do you plan to commute to work each day, are you going to just knock around on the weekends to have something to haul with, or is this you main driver? How many miles does this little truck have on it? If you still feel that the little truck is worth hanging onto, have you priced around for a bare head that you can put your old valvetrain into? This may be a cheaper alternative. Your existing head may be OK. You really won't know until you get it to the machine shop. Just some ramblings from a guy who has thrown a lot of money at old vehicles; some good, some bad.
