Consider yourself lucky. I got a call from a customer tonight that just bought an older D9 CAT dozer last week. He bought it to replace an older D8 he had that ran really good but needed extensive undercarriage work. The 9 had a good undercarriage and was running good when he bought it so as you would expect he got it moved to it's new home to use. He was using it this afternoon and it started to heat some. He shut it down and tried to restart it a little later but now the engine is siezed. I won't know what's wrong til I get time to go look at it this weekend but worst case he's looking in the neighborhood of $1500 to $2000 plus, per cylinder, to get it rebuilt..and it's got a 6 cylinder engine. That said if you know what's good and bad on your truck already, it's worth spending the money to repair it. If you try to buy another to replace it that's in good shape your gonna wind up spending more than the $1200 needed to repair yours, and there's no guarante it's not gonna need $1200 worth of work itself two days after you get it home.
