It had a Puralator on it, quite a bit longer than the Fram I installed. I put 195,000 miles on my 4.3 liter using Fram Tough Guard filters (supposed to have anti-backflow device built in) but if Puralator is what it likes then Puralator it what it gets! Ben made a good point with 5W-30 too. I guess I thought I was doing some good by recommendations a midnight mechanic made. I had hoped to clear some of the lifter noise up.
